Sketching from the Imagination: Characters

Hey everyone.
It's been a year since I've posted anything here. it's because now I'm more active on Artstation and Facebook. So please search me up there. These might be some of the last few posts on this blog. I had a good run here since mid- 2007. Would like to share some good news about my work being published for the first time in a book called "Sketching from Imagination- Characters." Do check it out in the link given below. Attached are 2 images of the book which is now available for pre-order. Take care and God Bless you all.

Warmth in the Snow

Boy- "Ok, so how was my idea?"
Girl- "Not as bad as I thought it would. I'm liking it."
Boy- "The snow is something isn't it?"
Girl- "I don't think it's just the snow."
Boy- "Then?"
Girl- "It's everything about right now that makes it beautiful."
Together Time is hard to find these days when we're living over-packed schedules and trying to squeeze something more into the teeny weeny time that is left. By the end, all you want is to crash and make sure you get enough shut-eye before the dawn of another mad rush. The Blessing of each other can be cherished in the very now, if we can make a personal choice to make time for each other over and put aside other things in life to hold onto what truly matters. Warmth in the snow was also sparked from a conversation with a friend, a while back about how he likes to go for a walk in a snowstorm (without windchill.) as it not only feels magical, but warmer too.

"Are you lost, Ducky?"

This artwork started with nothing more than an idea to experiment with Rain water. Rain often feels magical because it's like God sending down showers of Blessings upon us. There was no clear idea as to where I was going with this artwork, but as I doodled and played with colors, i explored the story possibility of a lost duckling and a little girl.

Long Way back Home

Guy- "Can't believe it. We're finally here."
Girl-"Wow. It's beautiful."
Guy- "Yep it is. So much history here."
Girl- "How does it feel to be back?"
Guy- "Don't know. So many good moments created here. Above everything, there was a lot of love."
Last year, I got the opportunity to go back to the place where I grew up in the Middle East. We do not live there any more and the place had completely changed from what I'd last seen close to a decade ago. Offcourse, there were remnants of the past, but it felt the same yet so distant. That moment came back to me as I started this artwork namely, Long Way Home. In this life's journey we move constantly and often reminiscing past moments can be bitter-sweet but enlightening. Sometimes, the past wouldn't have gone the way we would like but it surely did shape us to become who we are today. I was able to create this artwork trying out that new brush that I'd use recently to do the character works. God Bless you all and Have a Blessed new week.

Coffee shop Reunion

Girl- "Okay, I can give you this one. You didn't exaggerate when you said this place serves the best coffee."
Guy- "See, I knew you would like this place. Now you do know that I have good taste."
Girl- "Like I said. You're lucky this time. It's been a long time since we caught up."
Guy- "You should move to this city. Casper (the dog) misses you very much."
Girl-"Hmm... Is it Casper or is it somebody else?"
Autumn is one of my most favorite seasons as the colors just feels magical with the breeze and the leaves falling. It's amazing to see God's paintbrush go through the trees giving this season a vibrant and radiant touch. This story clubbed my love for autumn with a desire for story-telling over a reunion. Hope you all have been doing good. God Bless you all.

Drive

Husband- "How are you Hon?"
Wife- "I'm fine."
Husband-"You've been quiet. All good?"
Wife-"Yes, I'm. Just lost in the Night lights. Everything's so beautiful at night. Thanking God for his goodness."
Husband-"Yes. It's been a long day for both of us."
Wife-"Yeah. But Thanks be to God, we'll get through this just fine."
This artwork has been closely inspired from a Night Drive that Me and my wife had not too long ago. The days leading up to that moment had it's toll on us, so driving that night and seeing her smile brightened that dark space we were in. Something about that night felt special and magical within the silence of that car. It was a reminder of Christ's presence in even our most difficult moments and a constant reminder that through every painful circumstance, his light shines to fill us with joy and peace that sustain us through anything we go through. This Life is a privilege if we do not allow our circumstances to determine who we are, but rise above those circumstances to be molded into God's Masterpiece.

The Cereal Story

Mum: "Check this out Hon, I've never seen the baby finish his cereals so fast."
Dad: "Hmmm... That's odd."
Mum: "Yeah it is. He must have been rather hungry today."
Dad: "Yeah. He would have. Speaking of hungry, I better feed the Dog."
This was an idea that came to my mind, a long time back about a humorous breakfast table moment. I had several moments trying to figure out the best way to compose this shot to best deliver the story. Hope you all are doing well.
